It is always amazing to me how perfect God’s timing is. Just as the private sewing lessons I teach were beginning to dwindle I received a call from the owner of a large, local quilt store asking if I would like a job in her shop helping customers and teaching classes as well as sewing samples for the store at home. After talking to my parents and rearranging my current schedule I was able to accept. I won’t start working in the shop until sometime this Summer but I have already started making samples of future class projects. My first sample project was a cute little drawstring bag by Amy Butler. I was allowed to choose the materials myself which was very fun. Although it took me some time to find three coordinating prints.

Pattern: In Town Bags

Designer: Amy Butler

Skill Level (on a scale of 1-5): 2

Fabric: Love by Amy Butler for Westminster Fibers

Q: Was the pattern easy to follow?

A: Yes, the directions were very clear. The only step I did not like was for making the drawstring. The pattern says to fold and iron the long sides first and then the short sides. Personally, I think it should be the other way around.

Q: Did you make any changes to the pattern or design?

A: I did not use any trim. Otherwise it is exactly the same as the pattern.
